Pet skills and pre quests
If I get a pet and don't complete the quest, then I do all the other profession quests will that pet still be there or will it be wiped with the skills.
*Edit: After a bit of perusing through google and wiki/wikia, it only confirms that a pet is kept when Profession is switched, it made no note of people who haven't taken a profession yet. So, it appears that the only way to be certain is to take the quest and see if the bear remains after. (unless someone can give a definite answer). I would think that you keep the pet; you just can't access it without charm/comfort animal. So you would have to wait until you can change professions before you could see it again.

If I remember correctly, when doing the other profession quests they give you an option to take the skills. If you don't take the skills, you can keep your bear and still do the quests. But if what you're asking is if the bear will still be linked to your skill when you get it back, I'm not sure.

I just attempted to start a quest and it requested me to change my skills and wouldn't let me do the quest without changing skills.
So now its just whether or not I can keep the pet (don't want to trouble with charming a bear again). |

You keep the pet, even if you can't "equip it" until you can change professions later in the game.

This is correct. As soon as you can switch professions (much later in the campaign), and can equip Charm Animal or Comfort Animal skills again, your bear will be there. Once you have used a skill, the skill remains part of your character. The only way to remove a pet is to sell it to a Pet Tamer.

Perhaps the question is, why bother? If you're not going to use the bear, then just wait until you get to post-searing and charm one then.

thanks for the answers!
I just needed to know because this is my perma-pre char so I was going to get the bear, then do all the lvling and whatnot for LDoA before deathlvling then do all the quests, end with ranger for second prof, then deathlvl whenever I get bored. Now I have no fear of losing my bear when I do those redundant quests! |
